Get Some Cornhole Toss Practice before the Blue Plum Festival!

3pm-5pm:  Carver Park, 322 W. Watauga Ave., kicks-off First Friday with an Easter Egg Hunt & Cookout Free and open to all ages. The Easter egg hunt will be divided into various age groups and Prizes awarded in each division.

5pm:  Coffee & Tea Haven, 300 E. Main St., re-opens featuring organic coffees, teas and lattés.

5pm-7pm:  Slocumb-on-Tipton Gallery/ETSU, 126 Spring St., hosts the Closing Reception for Matt Oerly’s sculpture and painting exhibit, Carbon Dating.  

6pm-9pm:  200 Block E. Main St., playground for The Cornhole Toss Challenge! Get a partner and play for Free. Children play until 7:30 followed by Adults. Sign-Up in advance at downtown businesses displaying Cornhole poster Sign-Up Sheets or, just show-up Friday night for the fun! 

6pm:  Beadworks, 257 E. Main St., offers a Kids Jewelry Craft and as always, Free earing assembly, food and beverage. At 7pm Dr. Heat, Blues/Rock Band begins performing outside, weather permitting.

6pm:  Artopia, 316 E. Main St., begins a 25% Off Spring Cleaning Sale through April 15. Artists Ann Ropp and Becky Mallory will also include Art and slightly used Art Materials in this sale.

6pm:  911 Lifesavers Relay For Life Team will be selling the popular “Fight Like A Girl” t-shirts to raise money for American Cancer Society. Luminaria bags will be decorated in honor of loved one’s and bags will be used to illuminate the track on Relay Night.

6pm-8:30pm:  Census Day Continuation outside The Charles, 308 E Main St. Only 52% of all TN residents have filled out Census Forms. An accurate count is needed for TN to receive state shared taxes from state and  federal funds.   Get Census information, a t-shirt or a cap. 

7pm-9pm:  Spark Plaza, 201 E. Main, Happy 1-Yr Anniversary! Celebrate with their Spark-A-Palooza of a Partylive music from Bill Perkins and Sam Burke, artwork by Ann Ropp, Jason Sawicki, Eric McCarty, Jake Hathaway and Sam Mays and appetizers and drinks.

7pm-9pm:  Nelson Fine Art Center, 324 E. Main, hosts the Student Sculpture Exhibit of ETSU’s Department of Art and Design. Exhibit showcases the quality of sculpture being produced by area students. Artworks incorporate traditional and contemporary practices in sculpture. Free refreshments provided and Brew Plum (inside Art Center) has special coffees available for purchase.

7pm-11pm:  SR404 Contemporary Art Gallery, 404 S. Roan, has lots planned: Isaac Stone’s show Magnificent Tales #1 opening reception with all the original pages from his new comic on display (hopefully copies available for sale too); CD release party for Steve Gilbert and the Accomplices; special guest musicians Half-Cat and Tommy Bolt; food and beverage; bands start around 9pm.

9pm:  Main Street Pizza Company, 300 E. Main, hosts The Doctor Heat Show & Band in King’s Centre Lobby. Menu specials on Friday are Montgomery Street Mediterranean Pie with free parm crust upgrade and all Craft beers for $3.

10pm:  Vision Night Club, 1121 N. Roan St., is hosting a celebration with The Natti Love Joys, a Roots Rock Reggae band, a husband and wife duo. See www.visionupscalenightclub.com.


First Friday March 5th, Downtown Johnson City

Join us downtown Johnson City for a rare treat – an evening of free theatre!

Be entertained by the talent of actors from: Blue Moon Dinner Theatre, ETSU Division of Theatre and Dance, Johnson City Community Theatre, and the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre and see four mini theatre productions.

Here are only some of the details of what’s in store for you at our March 5th First Friday event:

5:00pm:  Coffee & Tea Haven (300 E. Main St) celebrates their FIRST anniversary in the King’s Centre.  Come in and enjoy a piece of anniversary cake!

6:00-6:30pm:  Register for Broadway on Main and receive a Pay Bill. Registration tables are at Blue Moon Dinner Theatre (215 E. Main St) and The Charles (308 E. Main St).

6:00-8:00pm:  Enjoy the antics of Meandering Mimes performing in the streets downtown, courtesy of one of our newest businesses, Caravan Mystique (127 Spring St).

6:00-10:00pm:  Tipton Street Pub (110 Tipton St) offers some very “Broadway” drinks: 42nd Street Cosmo, Mamma Mia Sangria, and Les Mis Mojito at $4.50 each and Billy Elliot Blue Moon Draft for $2.

6:00pm:  Beadworks (257 E. Main St) holds their inviting First Friday Shop Party with food, music, free earring assembly and the final month of their “Win a Birthday Party for 8 Children” contest.

6:30-8:00pm:  4X4 Miniature Masterpieces Exhibit – delight in the amazing variety of talent displayed in over 125 pieces of original art work donated by nearly 90 artists at the Johnson City Area Arts Council (King’s Centre, 300 E. Main St).

6:45-7:45pm:  Blue Moon Dinner Theatre and The Charles perform their first, 2 shows.

7:00pm:  SR404 Contemporary Art Gallery (404 S. Roan St) is having a One Year Anniversary Reception featuring the art of employees and sponsors; refreshments will be served.

7:00-9:00pm:  Nelson Fine Art Center (324 E. Main St) holds a reception for the new photographic show “Awry”, featuring the works of Brandy Amos, Victoria M. Cunningham and David Gorley; refreshments will be served.

7:00-9:00pm:  Brew Plum (located inside Nelson Fine Art) features a selection of specialty hot cocoas and lattes.

7:00-9:30pm:  Numan’s Billiards (225 E. Main St) will feature the band Tomahawk on the downstairs stage.

7:45-8:15pm:  Theatre Goers travel to their second theatre location for 2 more performances.

9:00-11:00pm:  Live, Cabaret-style music with The Penny Dreadfuls at The Main Street Pizza Company (King’s Centre, 300 E. Main St).
